QFHS Books, Name Accumulation Index

This ever-growing index provides details about people mentioned in books found in the Queensland Family History Society’s Print Library. Around 10,000 books are available for research plus another 500 in the Lending Library.

Books that have been entered into the annual QFHS Family History Book Award that dates from 1993 are available to borrow. Only financial members of the Queensland Family History Society may borrow these books. The link in this index is the Call No. Click on that link and it will open in a new window. Click again on the Subject title and a second new window will open. If the Location column states Book Award Shelf, that particular book is available to borrow. If the Location is shown as Print Library, borrowing is not available.

For those members unable to visit the Library and Resource Centre, we provide a short Look-Up Request. Simply note the item of interest and complete the Look-Up form.

For each person listed in the index, the following are provided:

  • Surname
  • Given names
  • (Personal) Title - if one is provided
  • Page(s) on which the name is found
  • Source - the title of the book
  • Year of publication
  • Other - Additional Fields, where additional information is provided by the book’s author
  • Call No.

If PDF appears in the Call No. column, this is a link to the 'Collection of Searchable Books' available on the QFHS website, from which the book of interest can be accessed. Note that the search facilities on the Name Index do not search PDF files for names of interest.

Should you not be able to visit the QFHS Library and Resource Centre, please contact the Centre by phone
(+61 7 33553369) during opening hours (see QFHS website for opening times). Alternatively, you can email research@qfhs.org.au for assistance in checking the book of interest.

If the book you require is held by the State Library of Queensland (SLQ), please contact the Library directly.
