Members Lounge
The Members Lounge is a coordinated program of activities that draws together existing programs supplemented with new ideas.
Generally, this collection of activities is free and exclusively for QFHS members, adding extra value to your existing membership.
The Members Lounge provides a relaxed companion to the ‘work’ of our research and opportunities for increased interaction between members – something we have significantly lost in recent years.
Scheduling of most activities allows for variation between day (10:00 am) sessions and evening (7.30 pm) sessions alternating each month - to allow members maximum access in the midst of busy lives.
Continuing the desire to provide maximum flexibility for members, most activities are hybrid events - i.e., they will encompass both online attendance and in-person attendance at the Family History Research Centre in Chermside. There are, however, some exceptions. Keep an eye out for these.
Activities included in the Members Lounge are:
- Book Club – Every two months
- Family History Toolkit – Every two months, alternating with Book Club
- Presenting… – Every month with a guest speaker
- Socials - Every month, mostly in-person activities: a film, excursion, coffee morning. Scheduled variously throughout the month as the activity dictates.
- Talking about... – Every month.
- Trout Game - Twice per year, an in-person activity.
Organisation for the Members Lounge is no small undertaking and involves many moving parts. Thank you to the volunteers who are assisting with delivery of the program.

The planned program for the Members Lounge is as follows - please note the variations between odd and even months. Specific dates and times for each activity are provided on the webpage for each activity.
