Notes:This event will be held ONLINE.
Contributing to the broad family history community - online and offline - can return unexpected benefits to you.
There are many advantages to joining the contributing community including building new friendships, having a sense of purpose, connecting with others in meaningful ways and keeping your brain active.
When we look specifically at genealogy, there is the potential to find a missing jigsaw piece to your family tree, acquire knowledge, learn through volume how to use crowdsourcing platforms better, and to hone your existing skills.
What is your favourite way of contributing? Are you a member of the Voluntrove community, a Wikipedian, or a transcriber for FromThePage? Or have you found your niche closer to home as a volunteer on one (or more than one) of the QFHS teams?
Please come along and share with us which programmes have benefited from your volunteering, and in turn have enriched and fulfilled your own life.
Facilitator: Nancy Edwards from the Queensland Family History Society Inc.
Social connection and learning will be promoted by a facilitator providing discussion opportunities for the participants, through prompts, conversation and chat messages.
In some instances there may be a list of resources and the 'chat' emailed to participants after the event. The event will not be recorded.
This event will be held at 10 am Queensland, Australia time (AEST, no daylight saving)
