Presenter:

Talking about...researching a biography

Are you curious about a particular ancestor? Would you like to write about this ancestor? What can you do to diminish the possibility that only after the book is published do you discover more information?

Libby’s questioning and researching of Frank Williams, monumental mason and creator of the Colinton War Memorial, revealed a life less ordinary. Come along to discover what a deep-dive can reveal about your person of interest.

After Libby tells us about the research for her upcoming book we will discuss what happens when we go beyond the five Ws - who, what, where, when and why. Authors and budding authors are welcome to come along and share their insights and ask questions in an interactive session.

Elizabeth DeLacy has written several books about the history of the Brisbane Valley, including “Racing In The Brisbane River Valley” (2018) detailing the history of the many race clubs that exist – or used to exist – between Fernvale and Nanango, “Colinton Boys”, published in 2015, which details the stories behind the names on the Colinton War Memorial, “The Life & Times of R.S. (Scamp) White” (published in 2014), about the former owner of Eskdale Station, "Charles Williams, The Mysterious Mason of Stonehouse" and “A Stonemason’s Tale - Robert Williams of Stonehouse”.

Nancy Edwards will facilitate this meeting.

Please note. This event does not have a presenter.

Social connection and learning will be promoted by a facilitator providing discussion opportunities for the participants, through prompts, conversation and chat messages.

In some instances, there may be a list of resources and the 'chat' emailed to participants after the event. The event will not be recorded.

As these sessions have a limited number of tickets to ensure everyone gets their chance to participate in the discussion, if you are booked and realise you are now unable to attend, please advise us so we can reallocate your ticket to someone on the waitlist.
