Family historians also know that newspapers are indispensable for adding detail to family history. We are fortunate that so many free digital newspapers are available. Each newspaper site or platform has similarities to and differences from other sites, but there are some principles you should know about when searching newspapers. For example, when was the long s (also known as the medial s or initial s) used, and how can we search for words that may contain the long s.

This presentation will look at some present key issues that will assist you in your search, no matter what site you are using.

We Remember Them: wartime stories in our family tree

The We Remember Them project will gather stories from our members focusing on the wartime stories in their family trees.  A virtual Honour Board will be created on this website to display an image of the individual and a few vital statistics. Each image will be linked to the story of that person’s wartime experiences. Read More
