This event will be held online and in-person at the QFHS Family History Research Centre i.e. a HYBRID meeting. Guest Speaker: Chris Schuetz Janeth Deen OAM is unable to present her talk on Wednesday 19 November due to ill health. Chris Schuetz has kindly stepped up with a new Presenting... topic, a story of a courageous Queenslander and a different mosque in Australia.
In 1892 little Winifred Oaten boarded a ship with her parents bound for Queensland. Her mother could not face the voyage, but Winifred continued with her father to land that turned out to be infested with prickly pear.
After a bad first husband she married an Afghan camel driver who really cared for her, and ended up going to Mecca.
