Notes:THIS EVENT WILL BE HELD ONLINE AND IN PERSON AT THE QFHS FAMILY HISTORY RESEARCH CENTRE i.e. A HYBRID MEETING.
Our book club is designed for family historians. Share your favourite reads in a relaxed setting. There's no requirement to read a particular book. High brow, low brow - we don't care as long as we're enjoying good writing and discovering something along the way.
Who doesn’t love a great historical novel?
Do you have a favourite author? What do you love about their chosen place and time?
What were the historical facts or the social themes (poverty, economic struggle, social structure, working lives, family life, etc) included in your selected novel?
What can we learn from fiction about writing an interesting story within an historical context?
Suggested reads include Dorothy Dunnett, Ken Follett, Kristin Hannah, Kate Grenville, Ruth Park, Kim Scott, Lucy Treloar, Min Jin Lee, Hilary Mantel.
