Jon Kehrer is a retired IT manager, intrigued by his Chinese forebears and the stereotypes propagated by left and right. He is a local and family historian with many decades' experience, recently specialising in the Chinese-Australian history of Queensland, Victoria and Taishan.
Jon has authored many articles for various family history journals in Australia, England, Germany and China. He was editor of the Inside Systems journal for the Australian Customs Service for several years.
Jon authored Taishan Genealogy: An Australian Internet Resource for Sze Yap Family History, Journal of Chinese Australia vol. 2, October 2006, and Chapter 17 - A Chinese Presence in a History of Vaughan by Ken James, Jon Kehrer and Jeannie Lister, Melbourne 2023, as well as variously supporting the research efforts of Professor Keir Reeves, Professor Mei Weiqiang, Dr Ian Welch, Dr Paul R. Katz and Dr Leigh MacKinnon.
