Ann started researching her family’s history in 1975 and is a founding member of the Queensland Family History Society. She is also an early member of several Scottish and English family history societies and was once rung from England to see if she was in a nursing home because of her very low membership number.

She taught senior biology for 38 years, after graduating from UQ majoring in Genetics and Botany.

Ann is a Fellow of QFHS. She was the Secretary, QFHS, 1981-84; President, QFHS, 1986-89 and 2007-10; chaired the organising committee for the 7th Australasian Congress on Genealogy and Family History, Brisbane 1994; and was Secretary of Australasian Federation of Family History Organisation 2004 -09.

Ann currently runs the QFHS New Members’ Welcome and Orientation sessions and is co-convenor of the QFHS DNA Special Interest Group and the Pre-Separation Group.

She has published articles in QFHS, Aberdeen FHS, Central Scotland FHS, East Surrey FHS, and Lincolnshire FHS journals. For over a year during 2011-2012, she was an expert guest on radio 4BC’s weekly Family History 101 segment. Ann is a regular and popular guest speaker and Q&A panellist.
