My personal migration story. In 1964, when I was nine-years-old, I migrated from England to New Zealand with my parents (who were ten pound Poms) and my eight-year-old brother. My dad recorded, on Cine 8 film, the whole trip from leaving our home town in Yorkshire by train, to sailing from Southhampton to Wellington via the Panama Canal. Mum wrote about the voyage and settling into a new country. She sent it to the local paper back in England, who printed it over two editions. I have photocopies of the articles. Dad edited the Cine film and set it to music, whilst Mum did the narration. It took them hours. I have it on DVD now. They moved back to England decades ago and now live in Harrogate. Both are now 90.
