The initial research was done by Rosemary Kopittke during 2020-21 as part of her Postgraduate Diploma in Genealogical, Palaeographic and Heraldic Studies at the University of Strathclyde.
Her research examined “Indirect emigrants from Hamburg to Australia in the 1870s: Who took this route and to which Australian ports did they travel?”
That work was extended by Rosemary in 2026 to cover indirect migrants from Hamburg to Australia for 1850 to 1899.
