The Cemetery Room houses:
The Cemetery Room holds cemetery records for Queensland. Cemetery records for other states are in the Print Library.
Memorial inscriptions, the inscriptions found on gravesites, can assist your research. They may provide information about a death before civil registration, tell you who else is buried in the same grave, give information about relationships, provide exact birth and death dates and other information, and commemorate other family members who died elsewhere.
Our extensive records include listings of many cemeteries and grave sites that are no longer in existence. Cemeteries may fall into disuse, be demolished, or be moved to another location. Individual graves and headstones may deteriorate due to weathering, lack of maintenance, or deliberate damage. Our records may help locate those precious inscriptions.
QFHS also holds records of lone graves.
