Both WWI and WWII produced war brides coming into Australia and leaving Australia. WWI saw many men return to Australia with brides, while some men would desert them in the UK. WWII would see the biggest mass exit of Australian women leaving for the United States and as a result would lose their citizenship (no dual citizenship allowed). Records in the Archives reveal the reality of the situation and give us details of the women and children during this time. This is the final meeting for the year. A festive supper to celebrate another successful year will follow. Please bring a plate.
