A NOTICE TO EVERYONE WHO
HAS PRE-SEPARATION FAMILY IN QUEENSLAND.
YOUR STORIES ARE REQUIRED FOR A NEW PUBLICATION.
A wonderful opportunity has arisen which will enable
everyone who has any family member who resided within the boundaries of
the state of Queensland, before separation from New South Wales, to write
a short story about them, and have these stories published in a new CD to
be named Queensland Founding Families: Biographies of Families who resided
in Queensland before separation from New South Wales.
This CD is to be published by the Queensland Family History Society Inc.
to coincide with the Q150 Celebrations celebrating the 150th anniversary
of the establishment of Queensland, and will be released on Queensland
Day, the 6th June, 2009.
We therefore request everyone, whether members of this Society or not, who
can supply conclusive evidence that their ancestors were in residence in
this state prior to the 10th December, 1859, to submit a story about their
people to be included in the abovementioned publication. Some form of
evidence that each individual does qualify will need to be provided. This
can be birth, marriage, or death certificates; shipping lists, newspaper
stories, photographs of headstones or other genuine evidence. In the case
of our original inhabitants, some form of proof that their people resided
in the area in question will be required.
The Publications Committee requests that each story should be limited to
no more than three A4 pages (12 point font) inclusive of any maps or
photographs. A signed Permission to Publish form should accompany each
submission. Forms are available
here, on request from the library assistants, or
by email from - r.annand@bigpond.net.au
By preference, and to assist the Publications Committee
compile these stories, please submit each entry by email attachment to –
presep@qfhs.org.au
Or, should this not suit, then by mail to – QFHS
Publications Committee, P.O. Box 1109, Brighton, Qld, 4017.
Please do not limit your stories to your direct lineage; we are looking
for stories about every person who qualifies to be included. Of course
this includes all indigenous people.
If you know of any person outside of this Society who has ancestors who
could qualify, then please contact them, and have them also send their
stories to be published. Our aim is to acquire as many stories as possible
regarding the people who contributed towards the establishment of the
State of Queensland.
Please do not delay in submitting your stories as there will be a large
amount of work to be done by the Publications Committee, and we certainly
wish to avoid any unnecessary rush of entries close to the cut off date of
the 31st December, 2008.
