An index of approximately 150,000
entries covering 75 primary sources to people in
Queensland prior to separation from New South Wales at the
end of 1859.
The CD includes a scanned image of an
accompanying guide and three smaller indexes to other
court, land and miscellaneous records.
Searching the main index by name, title,
year and source is made easy using the popular searching
and sorting capabilities of our very own developed
QFHSdatasearch interface. Features include field oriented
and keyword searches, Boolean selection, sorting, wildcard
searches and, when applicable, links between search
results and images held in pdf files of the source
records.
This index was initially published on
microfiche (print guide included) as the Queensland
Pre-separation Index in 1990.
It has proved an invaluable and
extremely popular resource for family researchers and
general historians researching the pre-separation period.
Highlights of this new version: Wide
ranging sources, including convict, administration,
immigration, law, land, newspaper, hospital and personal
records. Also includes: a person’s nationality, convict
status and gender, type of record, source and reference
within the source. View the guide in Acrobat Reader (free
and downloadable). Regional history a bonus.
QFHSdatasearch is a generic interface
designed to search genealogy databases and was developed
by the Queensland Family History Society Inc. This version
features field oriented and keyword searches, Boolean
selection, sorting and wildcard searches
