Special Appeal for Indexing Help
Commonwealth Electoral Roll (Queensland) 1959 - 100 years on
.

QFHS Publications Committee is appealing to all members for assistance with this special project to coincide with the celebrations of 150 years of the State of Queensland in 2009.
All you need is enthusiasm and a spreadsheet program. Don't worry if you are a one finger typist and may be too slow as many of our current indexers just use one finger. Instructions and an example will be given to each indexer - the team is always available to answer any questions you may have.
Just one bundle (20 pages) by each member would see us reach our target of publication in 2009. Can you contribute a page of indexing per day (60 names, address and occupation) for just 3 weeks to enable us to complete this significant project?
We currently have a dedicated team of indexers but to complete this project on time a much larger group will be required. So if you think you would like to help your society and contribute to the Q150 Celebrations please contact the Publications Committee at: indexing@qfhs.org.au

New Members' Welcome and Orientation ^

Not-So-New Members get Recycled... For several years QFHS has conducted "welcome" sessions for new Society members. The aim of these sessions has been to -

  • make new members feel more at home
  • help them find their way around our considerable collection of resources, and
  • identify important records by knowing, for example, how to access our catalogue on computer, what the GRD and the BIGR are, or why they should lodge their pedigree chart ASAP.

We invite EVERYONE to attend an orientation session, especially new members to the Society. This includes members who have never attended one, no matter when they joined, as well as members who have attended and wish to come again. Sessions last about three hours.

This is a FREE OFFER that you can't afford to miss!! Scheduled dates are -
