QFHS LIBRARY RULES

QFHS is a volunteer organization. Library Assistants are volunteers and, if approached for assistance, they will offer advice within their own personal experience and expertise.

The QFHS Library is a Reference Library (not a lending library).

Financial Members may research Free of Charge; Non-Members are charged a fee.

Sign in with name and membership number, time and locker ID if applicable.
Bags, folders, plastic binders should be stored in lockers (free keys at front desk).
Always wear membership badge or identification.

When signing out, submit research notes for inspection, pay for any printing, and return locker key. Sign out noting time of departure and cross off locker ID.

Pencils and notepads only should be used in research areas.
Laptops may be used but cases must be left in lockers.
Research notepads should be identified with owner’s name and phone number.

Mobile phones should be turned off when entering the Library.
Smoking is prohibited throughout the entire complex.
Food and drink are not permitted in research areas. Researchers are welcome to use the kitchen where an Honour System operates.

Handle resources with care, and treat machines gently.
Use marker cards for fiche, film, CDs and books & replace these resources carefully.
Borrow only one fiche or film at a time, and handle microfiche by edges only.
Rewind microfilms.

Photocopies can be made from fiche or film or print material - ask the Library Assistant on duty to do this for you.
Please observe copyright regulations as they apply to personal research.

Use the Computer booking sheet just inside the computer room. When the library is busy and members are waiting to use the computers local members may use the computer for ONE HOUR ONLY. Interstate and out-of-town members can make bookings for longer periods.

Some computers have data pre-loaded; others require the use of a data CD. These computers are programmed to accept only CDs in caddies. Do not attempt to remove CDs from their cases.

Specific rules about the use of removable storage devices are posted on the Computer Room door.
