1. FIND THE FILM TITLE AND REFERENCE NUMBER ^

  • Look for parish registers, bishops’ transcripts, census records, poor law records, church records, probate records etc

  • Print a copy of the film details (you need this to proceed to step 3.

2. COMPLETE A QFHS PERSONAL RECORD CARD (required with first order; thereafter ask library assistant for your card each time you order a film.) ^

  • If not already done (if it is your first LDS film order), ask the library assistant for a (blue) personal record card, then complete by inserting the following information:

Return completed record card to the library assistant for safe keeping (it is our record of you and how we can contact you when your film arrives at the library).

3. COMPLETE AN LSD FILM ORDER ^

  • Ask the library assistant for your QFHS personal record card and an LDS film order (ONE form for each film ordered)
  • Enter all required details on the order form. For example:

 i)        insert the film number as a 7 digit number (if film number has fewer than 7 digits, begin entering the number in reverse order, from right to left, and add any leading zeros to the blank spaces). For example:

4. POINTS YOU NEED TO KNOW ^

WHEN FILM ARRIVES

You will be contacted when your film arrives at the library.

READING FILMS

Book a film reader machine to reserve a time to view your film. (NOTE: There are time limits for use of the new machines).

PHOTOCOPIES

  • 55c per page with a limit of 10 pages to be copied from any one film.
  • Photocopying will be done by a library assistant.
  • Be aware that some films do not allow for photocopying.
