LDS Film Service

The Genealogical Society of Utah (GSU), which is governed by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS), operates Family History Centres as extensions of the Family History Library in Salt Lake City, Utah. There are more than 3000 centres in operation worldwide and they are governed by policies developed by GSU.

GSU circulates microfilms from its worldwide collection within its Family History Centre system. This circulation is governed by agreements with the entities controlling the rights to microfilms or by the custodians of the original records.

Queensland Family History Society Inc.(QFHS) is now part of this network and offers a service to members and visitors to order microfilm from the LDS Film Service through the Society’s Gaythorne Library.

The usual way to determine a reference number and title for a film is to visit the LDS Family History website. This may be done at the Library or on any computer connected to the Internet. More about this ...
