16. The
Inverell District Family History Group
The above group has been overwhelmed by the assistance given to them
after their recent fire. Replacing donated local family histories
is proving difficult.
If you can help provide family history data, download their donation
form from their website at: http://www.inverellfamilyhistory.org.au/
and return this.
They ask that you do not send any material until asked to do so.
Finally, they send a special thanks to all who have supported them. Top of page

18. Deceased
Online Adds Burial and Cremation Records
Deceased Online is the first central database of statutory burial and
cremation registers for the UK and Republic of Ireland - a unique
resource for family history researchers and professional genealogists.
Searching is free, and can be restricted as required to country,
region, county, or individual burial authority or crematorium. However,
once you find a record of possible interest, you do have to pay a fee
to read all the details.
The company expects to add at least 2 million more burial and cremation
records for areas right across the UK over the next 6-9 months. You can
read more at http://www.deceasedonline.com/

19. United States 1870
Census
Dozens of charts and maps that illustrate much of the data of the 1870
U.S. census are now available online. You can view small versions of
the maps and charts on your screen or download much larger images as
ZIP files and then view them offline at your leisure.
The 1870 census was the first statistical census of the United States.
The 1870 census asked many more questions than previous censuses and
those answers were tabulated to provide an interesting statistical
picture of a fast-growing country that was full of immigrants.
54 maps and charts are available, reproduced from the Statistical Atlas
of the United States as published in 1874. You can see the Statistical
Atlas of the United States at http://www.radicalcartography.net/index.html?9thcensus
For an atlas of the 1870 United States Census, go to: http://www.census.gov/history/www/programs/geography/statistical_atlases.html

21. Another David
Davids, Davids everywhere, but none the correct link.
In this confusing research it really makes you think;
What our ancestors were thinking when they named their children fair?
Did they know in later years we would be pulling out our hair?
"Ah ah!" you say, narrowing down names of many a dozen.
"Oh, good grief!" your reply discovering he has wed his first cousin.
So how does yet another David fit into this family group?
Figure it out later - your brain has turned into pea-soup.
Enumerators, as we all know, were quite a sneaky bunch.
They were crafty in their writing and you really have no hunch,
If the name that you are staring at truly belongs in your line.
Oh, my gosh, this boy's a girl! Well isn't this just fine?
You sit and stare and laugh at the errors you've just found.
You wonder what your ancestor, long buried in the ground.
Would think of this mistake, when you know that in his life,
He took three different women to be his wedded wife.
Our research would be easier had they stayed in just one place,
But as most of us discover, that is simply not the case.
From Connecticut to New York, and from there on to Ohio,
"Why couldn't they stay put and simply write their own bio?"
